Our History
We are a registered social landlord with charitable status and originally concentrated on housing management. Since 1990 we have increased our development activity and now provide both rented properties and homes to buy within parts of the South East.
Until 1990, we predominantly worked in the Southend-on-Sea Borough Council area. During the 1990’s we expanded both in size and geographically, working in all 14 local authorities in Essex, plus the London Boroughs of Havering, Redbridge, Barking and Dagenham and also in the Suffolk Coastal region.
We are one of the largest Essex based Housing Associations. This expansion has been achieved through the continued support of local authorities and the Homes and Communities Agency in providing Social Housing Grants for both rented and Shared Ownership projects.
In 1993, we merged with a small local special needs housing association, bringing with it 71 bed spaces for people with severe learning difficulties. Since then we have promoted and expanded its Supported Housing and Care services in Essex and the growth continues in this area of housing need.
We are committed to ensuring that this expansion is managed effectively, is properly resourced and gives the best possible standards of service to our customers.
